Welcome to the beaded diamond-shaped ring pattern instructions! If you have any difficulty following this tutorial, please post a comment at the bottom of the page on which you are stuck, and I'll do my best to help!

Step 1 : After crossing the red bugle bead marked with a yellow dot, add 3 new red bugle beads to the end of the fishing line depicted by a black arrow. The last one to be added is labelled with a turquoise dot and is the one to cross. I've marked a white dot on one bead. It will be important in the next step.

Step 2 : After crossing the turquoise-dotted red bugle bead, pass the end of the fishing line depicted by a black arrow through the red bugle bead marked by a white dot (the white dot also marked in the previous image to orient yourself). To the other end of the fishing line (the end depicted by a red arrow), add 2 new white bugle beads. The second one to be added is marked by a pink dot and is the one to be crossed.

Step 3 : We are so close to finishing the hardest part of the ring!! Okay bear with me. After crossing the pink-dotted white bugle bead, pass the end of the fishing line depicted by a red arrow through the white bugle bead marked by a purple dot (the one above the red bugle bead marked by a white dot). To the other end of the fishing line (that depicted by a black arrow), add 2 new white bugle beads, the second of which to be added is labelled with a dark green dot. This is the bead to cross.

Step 4 : This is the last step of the base of the ring! After crossing the dark green-dotted white bugle bead, pass the end of the fishing line depicted by the black arrow through the white bugle bead marked by a brownish dot (sorry, I was running out of colour options). To the other end of the fishing line (that depicted by a red arrow), add 2 new white bugle beads. The second one to be added is marked by a yellow dot and is the one to cross.

Step 5 : And this is what your base should look like after all that! I have left the yellow dot to orient you. It should be crossed by your two ends of fishing line right now (so the two ends should be coming out of it from either side). The shape of the base looks like a square, but if you turn it 45 degrees, it's a diamond!! That is the way it will be sitting on your finger, as you will see shortly.
If you are planning to only use one colour of bugle beads to make the base (e.g. if you are planning to make a nice golden bugle bead base to look like a real ring), follow all the same steps but don't pay attention to which colour goes where. It should be easier! As for any other pattern of different coloured-bugle beads, you should be able to figure it out yourself just by thinking about where you want those colours to end up. Try this pattern and then you will get a better idea of how to go about making your own patterns! It will become easy!
