Step 6

Step 6:Remember those 3 pink beads you just added onto the end of one end of the fishing line (the one depicted by a red arrow) in the previous step? Well, the reason was because we are using them to make the cat's ear. Those 3 beads make up one of the kitty's ears. So what we do here to make the ear is what I call a self-cross. You will only be using one end of the fishing line to make the ear, unlike usual. This is simply because it is more convenient, and we always like to take the path of least resistance in beading. So at the end of the previous step, the end of the fishing line depicted by a red arrow was emerging from the pink bead marked by a blue dot. What you do is add those 3 pink beads, then follow the arrows in the picture, such that the fishing line end loops back around until it goes back through the same pink bead marked by a blue dot, and in the same direction. You'll notice at the end of this step, that end of the fishing line is back where it was before you started this step. But now there is an ear in place!

Step 7

Step 7:This step is very simple, yet you have to look carefully to see what happened. So in the last step, the end of the fishing line depicted by a black arrow was coming out of the pink bead marked by a blue dot. In this picture, it's coming out of the pink bead marked by a violet dot! So basically, take that end of the fishing line and string it through the pink bead marked by the violet dot. To the other end of the fishing line (that marked by a red arrow), add 1 pink bead, 1 black bead, and 1 more pink bead. The black bead is the eye of the kitty!

Step 8

Step 8:Because this pattern is the first 3-D beading pattern on the website, I had a hard time figuring out how to show you a 3-D pattern with 2-D pictures! So I took multiple shots of the same object from different angles. I hope it helps! So in this step, our model becomes 3-D for the first time. Basically, the only thing we've really done is to cross the last pink bead that was added with the fishing line to form a circle of 5 beads (all pink with one black bead as the eye). All you have to do is take the end of the fishing line depicted by the black arrow and string it through the pink bead labelled with a turquoise dot. I've shown you the picture of the result from 4 different angles. The picture marked with the red check mark is to show you that this is the angle that I will be continuing on with in the next step of the cat pattern. In this angle, the ear we just made is at the bottom of the picture and upside down. Can you tell?

Step 9

Step 9:We left off with crossing the pink bead labelled with a turquoise dot with both ends of the fishing line. Now we are continuing to add more beads to the pattern to finish off the head of the cat. To the end of the fishing line depicted by a red arrow, add 2 orange beads, then 1 blue bead, then 1 pink bead (marked with a red dot). Then cross this bead with the other end of the fishing line (that depicted by a black arrow). The blue bead is the kitty's nose!

Step 10

Step 10:Again, the difference between this step and the last one isn't immediately obvious. Look carefully. In the last step, the end of the fishing line depicted by the red arrow was coming out of the pink bead labelled with a red dot. In this step, string it through the black bead (that is already in the pattern and need not be added) that is sitting right beside the pink bead. To the other end of the fishing line, add 3 new pink beads. The last pink bead added is labelled with a green dot because it is the one that will be crossed by the two ends of the fishing line in the following step.

Your website is great, but this guide in particular is very confusing. Do you suppose you could draw a diagram like you do with a lot of the other guides? Thanks.
